Emily D. McKenna
Emily McKenna is a partner at the Law Office of David M. Walker, LLC. She is a skilled and tenacious trial attorney with over a decade of experience trying and winning cases in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. Ms. McKenna graduated from The College of William & Mary. Following college, she worked for two years in a private law firm before attending the Villanova University School of Law. It was at Villanova, while interning at Pennsylvania Innocence Project, that she discovered her passion for fighting for the rights of defendants trapped in the criminal justice system. Upon graduation, Ms. McKenna was selected from a national pool of candidates to become an assistant public defender at the Defender Association of Philadelphia. There she earned a reputation as a relentless worker, a skilled trial attorney, and a gifted writer. While at the Defender Association, she was part of the Major Trial Unit (handling serious felony charges), the Special Defense Unit (handling high profile and complex criminal matters), and the Homicide Unit.
Ms. McKenna has tried hundreds of cases in front of judges and juries. She has years of experience handling and winning drug, firearms, sex, theft, and assault cases. At times, Ms. McKenna recognizes that a trial is not in the best interests of her clients, and when that happens, she is often able to negotiate exceptional plea deals that either keep her clients out custody all together or greatly reduce the amount of time they must spend in jail.
Ms. McKenna represents defendants charged in both federal and state courts. She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
